We are seeking a skilled and motivated 5G RF Optimization Engineer to join our wireless network engineering team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with 5G RAN planning and optimization, a strong understanding of RF principles, and proficiency in industry-standard tools and methodologies. This role requires the ability to analyze network performance, resolve issues, and continuously improve network quality in alignment with Agile development processes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct RF site surveys and design 5G Radio Access Networks (RAN) to meet coverage and capacity requirements.
- Perform RF propagation analysis and capacity planning to optimize network design and performance.
- Configure and tune base station parameters such as transmission power, antenna tilt, and frequency allocation.
- Manage RF interference, troubleshoot performance issues, and implement solutions to enhance overall network quality.
- Analyze network KPIs and performance data using vendor and third-party tools to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and execute RF optimization strategies to ensure high-quality service delivery and user experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define features and user stories as part of Agile development cycles.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure team alignment and progress tracking.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related discipline.
- Strong foundation in wireless communications, RF propagation, and cellular network architecture.
- Proven experience in 5G RAN planning, optimization, and performance troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with RF planning tools such as Atoll, Planet, or Asset.
- Proficient in RF optimization tools and techniques, including xLPT and RTT.
- Experience with network performance tools from major vendors (e.g., Ericsson, Nokia).
- Solid understanding of network planning principles, including interference mitigation and capacity optimization.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Experience with Agile methodology and tools like Jira, Asana, or Trello.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience working in a multi-vendor environment (Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, etc.).
- Certifications related to RF engineering or 5G technologies.
- Understanding of 3GPP standards for 5G NR.
